Hi JutziM,
Thanks for reporting this issue in Microsoft Community.
In your description, the mouse pointer disappeared after you tried to switch accounts.
I noticed that you could only get the mouse pointer back by pressing “Ctrl + Alt + Delete” again while you checked Windows Update, thanks for your efforts and attempts to resolve this issue.
Since the problem exists in multiple laptops, then in different Windows, we suspect that the problem may be with the mouse.
You mentioned that you modified the “Ctrl + Alt + Delete” key combination, how did you do this? Do you have the same modifications on your old laptop?
This is a good way to determine if the problem is coming from your modifications.
Is your computer managed by a company?
Did you use the same mouse when you tried the new computer and the old laptop separately?
If the same mouse was used, then the problem may be coming from the mouse.
If you can, please try using a different mouse (you can choose a different connection, USB cable or Bluetooth) to see if the other mouse will have the same problem.
Then let me know the model of the mouse you are using.
If you have access to another computer (neither the one you're using now nor an old laptop), then you can use the same mouse to test it on another computer to see if the problem still occurs. This will determine if the problem is related to your mouse.
Also, you can try searching for “Device Manager” in the taskbar, open it, find the mouse, expand it, and then right-click on the driver you're currently using and select Uninstall.
After this, restart your computer and see if the same problem occurs after the restart.
This will determine the likelihood of the problem occurring in terms of the driver.
The above methods are not the final solution, they are more like a check on this issue for you, please let us know the results after you try them, they will help to narrow down the cause of the problem, and based on your results we will determine the problem for you and provide further assistance.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
