I need to uninstall KB5044284 but it doesn't show on the list of updates that can be installed.

I'm having trouble installing software for a scanner and have reached out to the support for the scanner. They have seen issues with KB5044284 and suggested uninstalling it. The update shows as being installed but not on the list of updates that can be uninstalled.

I need to get this resolved as I have users that desperately need a new computer but it's worthless unless I can get the scanner installed.

From Support:

Thank you for contacting PFU Ricoh support advising the below with provided screenshots of system info.

Two Things:  Our HQ, PFU Japan is well aware of this situation.  More than likely the 1st.

  1. Suspecting this is currently a Bug in Win 11 24H2 that needs to be patched and have to wait for Windows to push out a patch fix

OR

  1. Our driver is now no longer working in 24H2 and PFU Japan will have to release a fix. (not a problem with the driver because a few machines from the same batch are working fine)

NOTE:

We have had some client's success with their IT Department removing 24H2 | KB5044284 and it works... BUT there is no guarantee as were also getting reports of that not helping still.

As mentioned above our Teams are working with Microsoft in the background with Microsoft providing no ETA at this time as well.

In the meantime, your IT Dept. can try to remove our driver & applications from the computer then uninstall 24H2 | KB5044284, reboot PC.  Then re-install our Driver/Application & retry.

OR

Use a Windows 10 PC or Win 11 PC that has not seen / installed the 24H2 | KB5044284 update on it yet.

    Hello Mark Jankiewicz,

thank you for posting on the Microsoft Community Forums.

It sounds like you're in a difficult situation with the scanner software and the suggested workaround of uninstalling the KB5044284. Since the update is not showing up in the list of updates that can be uninstalled, you might need to try rolling back to a previous version of Windows or using system restore points if available. For the details about that, please refer to Recovery options in Windows - Microsoft Support.

    Hope it helps.

    Best regards,

    Lei
