So my grandkids tried to facetime me duing the Leaf game last night and my microphone is muted and i cannot remove that line across it. It worked in the spring and ive only used the microphone a few times for work zoom calls..ive gone thru all my settings for camera and microphone and have allowed checked on all but there is a problem somewhere. Does anyone know how i can unmute this microphone? IT wont allow it by me pressing on that icon..the line stays over the microphone..thanks!

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

To fix your microphone mute in Facebook Messenger and FaceTime, here are a few steps you can try:

    1. Make sure your device, such as a computer or phone, is not muted at the system level. Check the volume settings to make sure the microphone volume is turned up.
    2. In your device's settings, find Facebook Messenger and FaceTime and make sure they have permission to use the microphone. Usually the relevant options can be found in "Settings" -> "Privacy" -> "Microphone".
    3. Close the Facebook Messenger and FaceTime apps, then reopen them. Sometimes, a simple reboot can fix a temporary problem.
    4. If restarting the app doesn't work, try restarting your device. This clears up any temporary glitches that may be causing problems with the microphone.
    5. If you're using an external microphone, make sure it's properly connected to the device and that there's no physical damage.
    6. Make sure your Facebook Messenger and FaceTime apps are up to date and check if there are updates available for your operating system.
    7. Use other apps, such as voice memos or other calling apps, to test if your microphone is working. If it doesn't work in other apps, it may be a problem with the microphone itself.

I hope the information above is helpful.

    Regards,

    Jill Zhou
