Bitlocker - can I disable the backup the recovery key selection in Bitlocker Manager

I don't want anybody to be able to see the key after I have set it up.

Is there any way to disable this?

    Hi LoisXL,

you can disable the backup of the recovery key in BitLocker Manager by the following steps:

    1. Open the Group Policy Editor by pressing the Windows key + R and typing "gpedit.msc" in the Run dialog box.
    2. Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > BitLocker Drive Encryption > Operating System Drives.
    3. Double-click on "Choose how BitLocker-protected operating system drives can be recovered" policy.
    4. Select the "Do not allow 48-digit recovery password" option.
    5. Click on "Apply" and then "OK" to save the changes.

After disabling the backup of the recovery key, you will not be able to retrieve it if you forget your password or lose your recovery key. Therefore, it is important to keep your recovery key in a safe place.

    Hope it helps.

    Kind regards,

    Lei
