Best way to re-install Appv 5.2

We have been having issues with App-v applications not installing on some computers because the App-v Service isn't running, Trying to force start the service fails with error "Windows could not start the Microsoft App-v Client on Local computer error code 575." the issue sometimes resolves itself after a few days or weeks but is inconsistent, looking online there is very little information on troubleshooting issues with the App-v client since it was integrated into the OS with version 5.2

grateful if anyone knows a good way to re-install the client

***moved from Windows / Windows 10 / Performance and system failures***

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

Based on the description, I understand your question is related to install Appv 5.2.

    1. Make sure you meet the prerequisites of installing Appv 5.2.

App-V Prerequisites (Windows 10/11) - Windows Application Management | Microsoft Learn

    1. Press Win + R and type services.msc ,Locate the Microsoft App-V Client service. Right-click on it and choose “Restart.”
    2. Open powershell as admin, run below command to enable appv:

    Enable-Appv

    1. Then check the status using this command:

    Get-AppvStatus

    1. Go to Settings/ Apps & Features, locate the “Microsoft App-V Client” . click on it and choose “Modify” or “Repair.” or reinstall, follow the prompts to repair the installation.

    Have a nice day.

    Best Regards,

    Molly

    Hi Molly

    Thanks for your response

The App-v client service fails to restart or run which is the main reason we are wanting to repair / re-install the client

Microsoft App-V Client doesnt exist under Apps and Feature or Programs and features

this is also the case on computers where App-v is working

    Kind regards

    Ki Wade

    Hello,

Check if the machine meet the prerequisites for installing App-V 5.2:

App-V Supported Configurations (Windows 10/11) - Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack | Microsoft Learn

The App-V server does not support the following scenarios:

    • Deployment to a computer that runs the Server Core installation option.
    • Deployment to a computer that runs a previous version of the App-V server components. You can only install App-V side-by-side with the App-V 4.5 Lightweight Streaming Server (LWS) server. This scenario doesn't support side-by-side deployment of App-V and the Application Virtualization Management Service (HWS) 4.x.
    • Deployment to a computer running Microsoft SQL Server Express edition.
    • Deployment to a domain controller.
    • Short paths. If you plan to use a short path, you must create a new volume.

    Best regards,

    Molly
