    Hello Abraham Billy,

thank you for posting on the Microsoft Community Forums.

The Recovery Key ID is used to identify the specific key needed to unlock the drive. It’s helpful if you have multiple recovery keys saved in your Microsoft account or elsewhere. So, if you have multiple Microsoft accounts, you can log into them one by one to see if it persists. Also, you can retrieve the key in other locations by following the steps in Find your BitLocker recovery key - Microsoft Support.

**Important:**Microsoft Support is unable to provide, or recreate, a lost BitLocker recovery key.

    Hope it helps.

    Best regards,

    Lei

Yeah like Lei posted, if the key is not stored in your account at that link, the only other hope is that you have it stored somewhere else like in another account you could login to at that same site, or stored on another location in a file, screenshot, or written down. But sounds like that is not the case and unfortunately it means the data on the drive that was encrypted with that key is lost unless you find the key.

This happened to me about 15 years ago, I know the pain. I had no copy of my key so my only choice was to erase the drive (format it) and start over from a blank drive. Now I make sure I have the keys stored or even consider turning off bitlocker on my computer these days, although that has security trade-offs obviously.

If you can't follow the steps above, the last resort is to erase the drive and re-install Windows on it using a USB or CD disc. Basically to set up the computer again with a fresh installation. See Ways to install Windows 11 - Microsoft Support for example.
