Remote Desktop screen lock issue

Hi everyone,

I am using a NUC to control TV, beamer and hi fi so that I can control everything remotely and without using a keyboard or mouse only through phone/other computer. This because I would like to control things my kids watch while sitting in the other room.

The problem is when I log into Remote Desktop from my phone or other computer it goes directly into screen lock and, in order to keep streaming on the main support (TV or beamer) I need to log in again - which means using keyboard and mouse, and most annoyingly, go into the room where the NUC is located so there's no real sense in using Remote Desktop.

I think this is really a failure in the system.. but probably I am using it wrong.. I searched on the net and tried all possible solutions but none of them worked as it seems this is not a supported feature.

Any help?

Thanks!

    Hello,

When we connect to a Remote PC using Remote Desktop, by default, if the controlled PC has a password and is in hibernation or locked state, the screen is usually locked after the connection and we need to manually unlock it. If you want to go directly to the desktop after remote login, you can follow these steps:

First change the system login options, set "How long do you want Windows to ask you to log in again after you leave the computer" under "Other Settings" to "never."

Then, configure the RDS login related group policy on the remote PC to automatically log in to the remote desktop service. On the remote computer, open the Group Policy Editor with administrator rights (run gpedit.msc). Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Security. Disable the policy shown below:

Confirm the policy and restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

    I hope this helps.

    Best regards,

    Jacen Wang

    Hello Jacen,

thanks for the feedback however I am afraid it didn't solve the problem: I would like to know if there is a way to control and use monitor on 2 machines simoultaneously (for instance as Anydesk or other similar app would do). At the moment it seems I can use it either on the main machine or on the other one (other remote pc or phone) - and while this happens the screen is locked on the main machine or connection disconnected..

    Marco
