We are experiencing serious issues with running QuickBooks Premier Accountant Edition version 2022 and later.

Our QuickBooks company files (for our clients) are stored on our Windows 2019 server (details below)

  • Windows Server 2019 Standard
  • Intel (R) Xeon(R) Silver 4210 CPU @2.2GHz 2.19 GHz (8 Processors)
  • Installed RAM 32GB
  • Workgroup -WORKGROUP

We do NOT use Active Directory, but instead authenticate via WORKGROUP  usernames and passwords.

The QuickBooks executable resides on each individual PC in our office that requires access.

The QuickBooks installation (for the Server ONLY) installs a QuickBooks Database Manager on the server to manage the “company files”:

The following is a the information for the running environment as reported by the QuickBooks Database Manager: (unable to upload screenshots successfully)

  • Quickbooks Database Server Manager : DB Engine Version 17.0.4.2182 (64 Bit)
  • System: OS Version 10.0.17763
  • Physical Memory: Total - 32GB, Free 28.36 GB
  • QuickBooks Database Manager 2023: Port 49965 (we support multiple versions of QuickBooks company files)
  • QuickBooks Database Manager 2021: Port 55291

Our older office PC’s are running Windows 10:

  • Intel (R) Core (TM) i7-2600 CPU @3.4GHz
  • Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.8 GB usable)
  • Product ID 00330-75091-78139-AAOEM
  • 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
  • Edition Windows 10 Pro
  • Version 22H2
  • OS Build 19045.4170
  • Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19054.1000.0

And QuickBooks runs just fine.

However, we purchased several new Lenovo PCs , all running Windows 11 Professional:

  • Processor AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 5750 GE with Radeon Graphics 3.2GHz
  • Product ID 00355-61085-90791-AAOEM
  • 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
  • Edition Windows 11 Pro
  • Version 22H2
  • OS Build 22621.3296
  • Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22687.1000.0

The problem is that when we attempt to open a QuickBooks “company file” or even the sample files from QuickBooks, Windows 11 takes almost 3 minutes to open a medium sized file. Windows 10 opens the same file (same QuickBooks version) in about 20 seconds.

This may not seem like a huge issue, but as a CPA firm dealing with MANY client QuickBooks “company files”, the wait time is SIGNIFICANTLY impacting our performance.

We have worked extensively with the QuickBooks Development team in attempts to identify and resolve the problems. But after over a month, we have no resolution. It's clearly not the Quickbooks software, but instead is a problem with Windows 11 Pro.

We have tried both Windows 11 Pro configured with a Microsoft account and also with only a local/offline account. We cannot find any difference between the two configurations. Both Windows 11 machines and configurations deliver exceptionally poor response times.

QuickBooks has suggested that we open a case with Microsoft to hopefully identify and resolve the issues we are experiencing.

    Hello,

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with QuickBooks Premier Accountant Edition on Windows 11 Pro. Based on the information you've provided, it seems like the issue might be related to compatibility between QuickBooks and Windows 11.

One thing you could try is running QuickBooks in compatibility mode for Windows 10. To do this, right-click on the QuickBooks executable file and select "Properties." Then, go to the "Compatibility" tab and check the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows 10" from the dropdown menu.

    Best regards

    Zunhui
