I am unable to connect to shared network computers or printers after Windows 11 update on 12-06-2024 IST.

I faced this same issue a few weeks back. Turning On/Off network sharing did not help.

Wifi and Internet is working fine.

I am able to log into local network applications on LAN.

I had to reset all network adapters using Terminal commands. The option to reset network adapters in settings did not work at all.

Based on the details you've provided, it seems you are experiencing issues with connecting to shared network computers or printers after updating to Windows 11. Here are some potential solutions to resolve this problem:

    1. Check Network Discovery and File Sharing Settings

Ensure that network discovery and file sharing are enabled. You can do this by:

    • Open Setting > Network & Internet> Wi-Fi(or Ethernet, depending on your connection type).
    • Click on your connected network name.
    • Make sure the options for Network discovery* and *File and printer sharing* are turned on.

    2. Reconfigure Network Settings Using Group Policy Editor

If you are using Windows 11 Pro or higher, try configuring settings via the Group Policy Editor:

    • Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog, type gpedit.msc, and press Enter.
    • Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Network > Microsoft Network (Client).
    • Enable the policy Microsoft network client: Digitally sign communications (always).

    3. Disable or Reconfigure Firewall and Antivirus Software

Sometimes, firewall or antivirus software may block network sharing. Try temporarily disabling your firewall and any antivirus software to see if this is the cause. Remember to re-enable them after testing.

    4. Run Network Adapter Troubleshooter

    • Go to Setting> System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
    • Run the Network Adapter troubleshooter to see if it can detect and fix the issue.

    5. Reset Network Components

You mentioned resetting network adapters via Terminal commands. You can try a more comprehensive reset:

    • Open Command Prompt (Admin).
    • Type the following commands and press Enter after each: netsh winsock reset and netsh int ip reset.
    • Restart your computer.

    6. Check Services

Ensure that necessary network services are running:

    • Open the Run dialog (Windows + R), type services.msc, and press Enter.
    • Check that the Function Discovery Resource Publication*, **Function Discovery Provider Host**, **SSDP Discovery**, and **UPnP Device Host** services are set to **Automatic** and are running.

    7. Update or Roll Back Network Drivers

The recent update might be incompatible with your network hardware. Try updating your network adapter drivers, or if the issue started after a recent update, consider rolling back to a previous driver version.

After completing these steps, you should be able to regain access to shared network computers and printers. If the problem persists, further technical support may be required.

    Best regards

    Rosy
