My computer system is Win11. I can confirm that all the softwares and the whole system are up-to-date. My internet connection is good. The system sound, camera and microphone are working well. Despite that, there are several problems with snipping tool.

>When I try to use the snipping tool to record the screen for a video, there is no system sound (e.g. sound of a youtube video in a browser). Recently when recording screen and output audio using Snipping tool, at the end I get a sign saying "Problems with recording audio. If an open app is using WASAPI exclusive mode, change it to shared mode" and the recording doesn't come up with audio.

>When I attempt to save the mp4 video to my desktop and open the video on Media Player, it said "we cannot open the video". the error message: 0xC00D36C4

What I did:

I tried other softwares such as Win media player legacy to play the vids, unchecked the WASAPI exclusive mode everywhere in the sound settings, and rebooted the app and restarted the computer several times. However, the problems persisted.

Please let me know if you need the screenshots from me. thank you!

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community forum.

The error code 0xC00D36C4 usually indicates a problem with the video file format or codec. It is recommended that you first check that the device audio driver is up to date. You can update it through the device Manager or download the latest driver from the manufacturer's official website.

In addition, try to close all unnecessary applications in the background while recording, especially those that may use audio, such as music players, video players, or audio editing software.

It is recommended that you test whether the problem persists after a clean boot:

Xiexie Jacen! However, after doing that, the problem still exists. I saw another discussion here about Snipping tool, which, as said by ppl and MS agents, is not without bugs, and remained unfixed even if 5-month time is given. But they didnt mention the problem of corrupt video.

I can confirm that my system works well and my internet condition is good. Also, the whole system and all softwares are up-to-date (I have a habit of updating everything and clearing cache on a daily basis, in order to do my part well before seeking technical support.) Therefore, I believe there are bugs in terms of the corrupt video and the WASAPI error (without system sound).

Then, as a contribution to other Microsoft users, would you please report the bugs to the technical team in charge of this and ask them to speed up the debug progress? Since it has taken nearly half a year!
