Windows needs your current credentials

I'm trying to disable a notification that appears when users created in our local AD sign into their Windows 10/11 workstations ( enrolled in intune ) with their Windows Hello PIN. They are greeted with a popup message, which I'd like to suppress. After researching potential causes, I've found that the suggested solutions don't align with our current setup. For now, I just want to remove this notification. Does anyone know if there's a specific registry key for this?

    Hello,sysmitch

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community.

I understand that when you log into your Windows 10/11 workstation with a Windows Hello PIN, a notification pops up that causes disruption.

To disable the “Windows needs your current credentials” notification, you can try some registry modifications to remove the notification.

    1. Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog box, type regedit and press Enter.
    2. Navigate to the following registry path:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

Locate the System folder in the left panel.

    1. Right-click the System folder, select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value, name it EnableLsaPolicy and set the value to 0.
    2. In the same System folder, look for the key named ConsentPromptBehaviorUser, ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin, or PromptOnSecureDesktop and adjust its value:
    • ConsentPromptBehaviorUser can be set to 0.
    • ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin is set to 0.
    • PromptOnSecureDesktop can be set to 0 if it exists.

Active Directory environment, you can make relevant settings through the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC), please try the following method as well.

    1. Navigate to: Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policy > Security Options
    2. In this location, you can adjust settings related to user credentials and logon.

Finally, you can try to see if you can find disable message notifications.

    1. Go to Settings > System > Notifications and Actions to see if you can turn off related notifications.

After you refer to the above steps, you can share some information in this thread and I will answer your questions further. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

    Best Regards,

    Hello Rota,

Thank you for your response. I've reviewed all the suggested solutions and concluded that they each pose some level of security risk or impact the usability. Is there a specific solution to disable the "Windows needs your current credentials" prompt without compromising the device's usability or security?
