Windows 11 - inaccesible device after recovery key is entered

Hello.
I have Gigabyte Aorus 15 BKF laptop with two physical NVMe disks for couple days now.
Bitlocker wasn't activated by me but i saw that disks have unlocked bitlocker icon on them.

I've decided to run full system update including bios update and after restart bitlocker wants recovery key to the OS drive.
I have that recovery key on my microsoft account and when I type it in it accepts it and tries to run disk but after a brief moment i get bluescreen with inaccesible device info.

What i've tried:

  • running recovery mode F9 during boot - again bitlocker recovery shows up and after typing the recovery key - i can use advanced recovery - in cmd it doesn't show any physical drives so any manage-bde commands are useless because it claims that there is no drive
  • in BIOS settings i've tried disabling TPM (in peripherals -> trusted computing - set to disable
  • in BIOS settings on security tab - tried the option "delete all secure boot variables"
  • running from Windows 11 flash drive - i cannot even reinstall windows because it says that there are no hard disks

Antyhing I try to do - drives aren't showing up.
On boot options i can only select OS drive NVMe 512GB and OS type: UEFI OS - however on NVMe settings it says that there are no devices.

Haven't tried to plug those disks via adapter to some other PC but from what I see there are really slim chances that they will work or could be decrypted.
Is there a way to make those disks usable again??... I also have a lot of data on both of them since I've moved all from another laptop and cleared it ;(

***moved from Windows / Windows 11 / Recovery and backup***

---------- EDIT

After removing both drives from laptop and connecting them through adapter to another PC - I could successfully remove bitlocker protection (recovery key worked) and access the data.
When placed back to the laptop - drives still wouldn't show up.
They were missing from windows installer also. So the issue was lack of Intel Volume Management Device(VMD) driver that somehow was gone during update process of the laptop.

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

Based on the description, I understand your question is related to lack of Intel Volume Management Device(VMD) driver.

    Try these steps to fix:

Visit the Dell support website, enter your computer’s service tag and search. Navigate to the Drivers & Downloads section and select the Storage category. Download the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver.

Extract the downloaded driver files to a USB flash drive. Install the IRST Driver: Connect the USB flash drive (containing the Windows installation media and IRST driver) to your laptop.

Restart the Windows installation process. When prompted, click “Load driver”. Browse to the Intel VMD driver folder on the USB drive and select it. Continue with the installation process.

    Have a nice day.

    Best Regards,

    Molly
