Hi there can anyone tell me which ports I need to open so that any computers on my network can talk to it. I can't ping or connect to it.

Thank you

Mathew

    Hello Mathew,

If you want other PCs to ping your PC, you need to configure an inbound rule File and Printer Sharing (Echo Request - ICMPv4-In) to permit this traffic. The ICMP Echo Request (ping) is an incoming request.

If you want to enable general communication between your PC and other computers on the network (not just ICMP ping), you'll need to allow the specific protocols and ports that the applications or services use.

    Here are some common scenarios:

    1. File and Printer Sharing (SMB):

Inbound Rule: Allow incoming traffic on port 445 (TCP) for SMB (File and Printer Sharing).

    2. Remote Desktop (RDP):

Inbound Rule: Allow incoming traffic on port 3389 (TCP) for Remote Desktop Protocol.

    3. General Outbound Connections:

Outbound Rule: generally, outbound connections are allowed by default.

    Regards,

    Karlie
