File Transfer Speed from Windows 11 to Synology NAS is VERY SLOW vs. Windows 10

I have a new Windows 11 PC and I'm noticing that the file sharing to my Synology NAS is very slow vs when I transferred files from my older Windows 10 PC.

File Transfer Speeds:

  • Windows 11 to NAS (DS1520+) = 11.5 MB/s
  • Windows 11 to Windows 10 = 112 MB/s (much faster)
  • File size = 30GB

Note:

  • Windows PCs and NAS are all Ethernet connected on 1GB home network.
  • Running: Windows 11 Pro 23H2
  • Running: DSM 7.2.1-69057 Update 5

Any suggestions on how to speed this up would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Hello,

Based on our understanding of your issue, the file sharing transfer speed between windows is normal, so this problem should be considered from the optimization of Synology Nas as much as possible. You can refer to the following steps:

Check the settings on your Synology NAS

    Network settings

1.Go to Control Panel > Network > Network Interface, check the MTU value of the interface currently in use, and make sure the settings are identical with the client device. Untick Set MTU value manually to return to the default MTU value if the problem persists.

    2.Enable DHCP:

a.Go to Control Panel > Network > Network Interface, select the interface currently in use, and click Edit.

b.Tick Get network configuration automatically (DHCP).

c.Enable DHCP on your client device.

d.Connect your NAS and client device directly with a cable without a router or switch in between.

3.Go to Control Panel > Network > Traffic Control, disable any active rules that may affect SMB transfer speeds
