Recently got a new laptop for work and it will not give me the option to select to print in color. The issue is not the printer as everyone else in the office is able to print in color from any other device but when I open the printer settings under my laptop it only gives me the options of grayscale or monochrome. I’m using an hp laptop as well as an hp printer

    Hello,

According to your description, you don't have a color printing option when printing on your HP laptop, would you like to ask if the other computers that can print in color are using the same HP printer as your laptop?

Here are a few things you can try:

    1. First, make sure that your HP printer has the color ink cartridge or toner cartridge installed correctly and that the ink or toner volume is sufficient. Sometimes, the disappearance of the color printing option may be automatically disabled because the system detects that the color filament is insufficient or not installed.
    2. Try updating or reinstalling the latest printer driver. After updating the driver, go to the "Devices and Printers" interface of your computer, find your printer icon, right-click and select "Printer Properties" or "Printing Preferences". Here, take a closer look to see if there are setting options for color printing and make sure they have been set correctly.
    3. In the print preview or print settings window, check if "Color" is selected as the print mode. Some apps may default to black and white print mode and need to be manually changed to color.
    4. Set the device type to color: Open "Settings", tap "Devices", click "Printers & Scanners" on the left side, select your printer name, and click the "Manage" button. Click "Print Properties" on the left and click the "Change Properties" button in the window that appears. Select the "Device Settings" tab, scroll down and click on "Device Type", select "Color" from the drop-down menu. Click Apply, and then click OK.
    5. Check that your laptop supports color printing and has the latest Windows update installed, after installing the latest update, delete and re-add the printer to see if the problem persists.

    I hope this information helps.

    Best regards,

    Jingjing Wu

Thank you for your response, the printer has full and correct toner cartridges and I am able to print in color from my phone as well as another laptop. I have updated the laptop and installed the updated drivers for this printer

(Color Laser Jet Pro mfp277dw). Under the printer properties the only options in the dropdown are still only Monochrome or Grayscale. I have also deleted the printer from my laptop and readded it and I'm still not given the option to print in color. I was able to print a diagnostic test page from the HP smart app which came out in color but I still have no option to select color.

    Hello,

I have consulted some documents, and you can click on "Printers & Scanners" in the settings and select Manage. Open the printer preferences, click Advanced, set grayscale printing to off, and you can print in color. Or in the printer properties, find "Device Settings" - "Device Type" and select it as color.

If none of the above methods work, it is recommended that you contact HP Technical Support for further assistance.

    Best regards,
