When I visit the Task Manager->Users tab on my Windows Server VM, I can see that two users are in the dosconnect state, but those users don't have a username. PFA picture. There are no users with no-username in the server's users list or the Windows logs, according to my checks. Can you tell me why this happened and what the cause was? Want to know the cause of this, the why.

    HelloBharath_98

To better assist you, could you please provide some additional information?

    • Are you currently logged in as an administrator on the Windows Server VM?
    • Are there any error messages in event log might related? Specially "Security" and "TerminalServices-LocalSessionManager" logs.
    • After logging off or disconnecting all active users from the server (including yourself if possible) and then reconnecting to VM, do these unidentified users still reappear? This can help determine if they are tied to any active sessions or if they persist even after a complete logoff and logon.

    Best regards,

    Karlie Weng

    • Are you currently logged in as an administrator on the Windows Server VM? Yes
    • Are there any error messages in the event log might related? Specially "Security" and "TerminalServices-LocalSessionManager" logs. in security log, there is many lgon activity since monitoring the application from another server. there type 3 and type 5 logon there, that's recorded for every few mins. in localsessionmanager log, there is a record of only RDP sessions, that is AD users. at the time logs have 3RDP session history on that day, as per the screenshot shared there is other than that 2 users(users with name) one user's log session was recorded but that was before couple of hours, and FYI ours server concurrent user active session is 2 users only at a time.
    • After logging off or disconnecting all active users from the server (including yourself if possible) and then reconnecting to VM, do these unidentified users still reappear? This can help determine if they are tied to any active sessions or if they persist even after a complete logoff and logon. This is happened one of the users and complained us, when we logon the server checking there no such users, but we check after an hour that complain raised.

we have no idea why its happened, dono is because of glitch or something.

Have you checked for any third-party applications or utilities running on the server that might be causing this behavior? Certain software or scripts could potentially create and disconnect users, leading to the behavior you're observing. Additionally, are there any scheduled tasks or scripts running on the server that might interact with user sessions in this way?

We used only MSSQL monitor red gate to monitor the Windows SQL server. That Log in to the server and interact with MSSQL server authentication to observe it.
