Error: The security database on the server does not have a computer account for this workstation trust relationship

Hey!

We run into a problem I've never seen before. We configured the Active directory as usual and after some updates and reboots, our access to the server was denied with and error: "Error: The security database on the server does not have a computer account for this workstation trust relationship"

At the moment we can't access with any user. Any idea how to reset the active directory from the BIOS, or how to access with a safe/recovery mode or similar, or simply bypass the Active directory to reconfigure it?

thanks.

The easiest and quickest solution is disconnect from the internet completely and then sign into the machine. Once in, reconnect to the internet.

    Hello Miquel Gabalda,

Thank you for posting on the Microsoft Community Forum.

The error message you are seeing indicates that the computer account for the affected workstation has become disassociated from the Active Directory domain. To resolve this issue, you will need to rejoin the affected workstation to the domain.

To do this, you can follow these steps:

    1. Log in to the affected workstation using a local administrator account. Your firewall may prevent you from joining a domain, make sure you have turned off your firewall when adding a domain.
    2. Right-click on "Computer" and select "Properties".
    3. Click on "Change settings" next to "Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings".
    4. Click on "Change" next to "To rename this computer or change its domain or workgroup, click Change".
    5. Select "Domain" and enter the name of your Active Directory domain.
    6. Enter the credentials of a domain administrator account when prompted.
    7. Restart the workstation when prompted.

Once the workstation has restarted, it should be able to authenticate with the Active Directory domain again.

I hope you the information above is helpful.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to let us know.

    Best Regards,

    Daisy Zhou

I have the same error, on a Windows Server 2022 VM. I try to login using any acct, but cannot. What can be done now? Do I have to re-create a new VM?

I followed these, but after a reboot, I'm still getting this error. Someone, please help me to resolve the issue.

I am using Virtual Box. It came when i changed my name on server in system settings. After that it wants to relog and i did. Now i am locked out. I can´t log in to administrator account and i can´t login with the user i created for either.

So this solution might for those who can access admin account on server . But if i can´t login there u are screwed.

So if u guys have a solution och a workaround for this then i am happy to hear it.

i study to become network engineer so i am new to this stuff=)
