Can we upgrade Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard to Windows Server 2019 after October 10, 2023?

Hello,

We are planning to upgrade our Windows Server 2012 R2 to 2019 due to the end of support. We are likely a little bit behind the schedule to call a downtime due to our ongoing projects. Our Windows server is currently hosted on an AWS EC2 instance, and we are planning to place an in place upgrade using publicly available Windows Server 2019 image on AWS. Will this still be available after October 10, 2023? Or do we need to get an external ISO file to perform the upgrade? Thanks!

Nikhil K.

    Hello Nikhil K.,

Yes, you can upgrade your Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard to Windows Server 2019 after October 10, 2023.

However, please note that after this date, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or support for Windows Server 2012 R2.

    Best Regards,

    Hania Lian
