Problems with November 14, 2023—KB5032198 on Windows server 2022 - Error 0x800f0905

Hi.

I have the Windows Update Error 0x800f0905 after trying to execution of Cumulative Update KB5032198 on Windows server version 21H2 Build 20348.1970.

In the Event View - System, the event is: Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x8024200B: 2023-11 Cumulative Update for Microsoft server operating system version 21H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5032198).

The same error occurred with the 2023-10 cumulative update.

I have already execute:

  • sfc /scannow
  • Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

but the problem remain.

What can i do?

    I created a WindowsUpdateLog file and saw that the error is related to CBS.

    Opening the CBS.LOG file, at the same time as the error I find this:

    So when it try to update the Windows Internet Explorer seems to have the error.

    It seems like it doesn't recognize the version.

    HI.

    I ran the command to reassign the Windows version and license:

    DISM /Online /Set-Edition:ServerStandard /ProductKey:xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx /AcceptEula

    the response was OK,

    after i rebooted the server, and tried the update again, but the result was always the same error.

    Unfortunately this method didn't solve the problem either.

    The repair of IE don't take effect, and the reinstallation with the Setup for 7 64 bit (The only available online), it creates a message every time to restart the server before installing, without doing anything.

    The CBS.LOG error and messages are the same.
