Why does Epson ET-4850 print with Wi Fi Connection on Windows 11 Computer?

Epson ET-4856:

Installed all latest drivers from Epson Web Site.

Printer is set up and connected to Wi Fi

Computer is connected to same Wi Fi

Operating System is Windows 11 Home Edition

I have followed up all Epson web-support set up instructions and even they could not solve the problem. Both my printer and my computer are both connected to same Wi Fi Router!

Anyone experienced this problem before is this something new? Any suggestions!

At the moment Epson are replacing my printer which is three days old.

    Hello,

There are several troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Use Printer Troubleshooter:
      • In Windows 11, go to "Settings" > "System" > "Troubleshoot" > "Other troubleshooters." Run the "Printer" troubleshooter to automatically detect and fix any common issues.
    2. Manually Add Printer:
      • Find the IP address of your Epson ET-4850 from its network settings. Then, on your computer, add the printer using its IP address instead of automatic discovery. This can be done in the "Add a printer or scanner" section by selecting "The printer that I want isn't listed" and then choosing "Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname."
    3. Check Firewall Settings:
      • Ensure that your firewall or any security software is not blocking communication between your computer and the printer. You may need to temporarily disable the firewall for testing purposes or add an exception for the Epson software and services.
    4. Test Print via Ethernet or Direct Connection:
      • If possible, connect your printer to your computer directly using a USB cable or through Ethernet to isolate the issue to the Wi-Fi connection.
    5. Printer Firmware Update:
      • Visit Epson's support website to check if there's a firmware update available for your printer and apply it if necessary. Sometimes, outdated firmware can cause connectivity issues.

If after trying these steps the issue persists, it would be helpful to gather more information such as any error messages displayed, and contact Epson support again with these details.

    Kind Regards,

    Karlie

    Thank you Karlie,

Your second suggestion is the closest, although I had to do it as part of software installation dialogue box. It appeared 'Wi Fi' settings were buried under title 'LAN set up option. And even after clicking that set up option, I had to force the software to allow me to input my Network name, printer's IP address and confirm Printer MAC address.

As soon as I tried it, all error messages disappeared and software got installed correctly.

Printer is now configured and working fully on Wi Fi connection.

In follow up I had to do something on the same lines for Scanner to work via WiFi.

Epson support Web site and online support proved to be too long winded and not in the right direction. They only provided guidance to follow their dialogue box and any direct suggestions to what if any action was required. Telephone support proved to be even worse. Had to hang up the phone after waiting for nearly 45 minutes!

In summary, Epson product is good, but Support appears to be in the other direction.

Once again, thank you for some useful directions.

    Best Wishes

    Suren
