Different Print Driver Settings for each printer tray

I was wondering if it is possible to have specific print driver settings for specific trays on the same printer. We have a department that uses one printer to print letters on ordinary 8 1/2 x 11in plain paper and to print addresses on standard 4 1/8 x 9 1/2in envelopes. However, whenever the department attempts to print an envelope, they have to press additional buttons on the printer since the printer is signaling that they have the wrong "paper size and paper type." Where exactly do I need to go to change the print driver settings so that Bypass (manual) tray is set to 4 1/8 x 9 1/2in envelopes and the tray is set to 8 1/2 x 11in plain paper?

Additional information, we use a print server (running Windows 2012 R2) so I'm assuming the change needs to only be made to the printer on the server. I see there is a "printer preferences" and "printer defaults" where you can change print driver settings, however I'm having no luck in resolving this.

    Hello Benjamin Bell2

In "printer preferences" you may look for an option that allows you to specify the paper source or tray for envelopes. This option may be labeled as "Paper Source" or "Tray Selection". The exact options may vary depending on the specific printer model and printer driver.

Check if there are separate settings for trays and paper size. This allows you to configure the printer driver to automatically select the correct tray and paper size based on the print job. If you only see one set of options, you may need to manually press the button on the printer. As some printer drivers don’t have separate settings for different paper sizes and types.

You could also consult the printer manufacturer's support for assistance specific to your printer model.

    Best regards,

We have a department that prints on 3 different forms, from 3 different trays, all on the same printer.

We have set up 3 printer as such: MainPrinter_Tray#1, MainPrinter_Tray#2, and MainPrinter_Tray#3.

In the preferences for each printer, we have the paper size, paper type, and Paper Tray, all set accordingly.

When someone needs to print a document from Tray#2, they simply select MainPrinter_Tray#2. Likewise if they need to print a form from Tray#1 or Tray#3.
