    Hello Abdul Aremu,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

*Is it safe and Possible, to make a GPO backup on a windows server 2012 n 2008 to be restored on a later version like the 2019 or 2022 ??*A: You can add Windows server 2019 or Windows server 2022 Domain Controller in the existing domain with 2012 Domain Controller and 2008 Domain Controller. Then all GPOs on Domain Controller and 2008 Domain Controller will replicate to new Windows server 2019 or Windows server 2022 Domain Controller.

However, the minimum requirement to add 2022 domain controller to an existing domain is the Windows Server 2008 functional level. In addition, the domain must use DFS-R as the engine for replicating SYSVOL.

If functional level and SYSVOL replication type meets the requirement, you can add 2019 or 2022 Domain Controller.

I hope the information above is helpful.

    Best Regards,
    Daisy Zhou
