I am trying to upgrade a Windows 2012 (VMWare VM) to Windows 2019, but get this error message:

"Windows could not collect information for (OSImage) since the specified image file (install.wim) does not exist".

Is there a work around for this?

    Hi Simon Berrecloth1,

this error usually occurs when the installation media is corrupt or the path to the installation media is incorrect.

Since upgrade Windows server 2012 to Windows server 2019 is not supported, you will need to perform a clean installation. Here are some steps you can try:

    1. Ensure that the installation media is not corrupt.
    2. Check the path to the installation media. Make sure that the path to the installation media is correct and that the install.wim file is present in the correct location.
    3. Try using a different installation media. If the above steps do not work, try using a different installation media, such as a USB drive or DVD.
    4. Check the compatibility of the VMWare VM. Ensure that the VMWare VM is compatible with Windows Server 2019.

    Hope it helps.

    Kind regards,

    Lei

Thank you for your reply. My bad details, I am running Windows 2012 R2 which should be upgradable to Windows 2019.
