Server 2022 Resource Exhaustion problems

I had previously posted a question where we ran into issues with Server 2016/2019. (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/457194/server-2019-resource-exhaustion-problems) we are trying to get off of our Server 2012 R2 deployments running IIS. It appears 2022 has the exact same problem with 2016/2019 but 2012 R2 did NOT. will post the previous ticket text here as well, however we've opened a ticket with Microsoft over this a month ago and can't get anybody to return our calls or emails. initially they transferred it to server then to IIS team and they said they were transferring back to server. that was 2 weeks ago and no one (including supervisors) will return a call or email. I've called in multiple times to MS support and they keep telling me they will have somebody call me and nobody does. If there is another way to bypass MS phone system hell, I would greatly appreciate it. We're completely stuck with our migration....

Running into a problem with WIndows Server 2016/2019/2022 and Resource Exhaustion issues for low memory. Basically we run an application that historically we've been able to run on a VM with 3-4CPU 12/16GB RAM on Windows Server 2012 R2 with over 200+ sites. Memory usage will be high, but we do NOT hit these low memory issues on the older version of Windows Server. On 2 separate instances of Server 2022, running 3CPU 12-16GB RAM and only around 40 sites it's at least once a day and now the server is actually crashing on us and we have to power it down hard to recover. All sites are running the same software more or less.

    Hello Anthony DePinto

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

    • Is the server in question a physical machine or a virtual machine?
    • Do you have any screenshots?
    • When the issue occurred, please open Task Manager and sort CPU usage from high to low.
    • Please try clean boot to exclude third party applications interruptions.
    • You can also use Performance Monitor to find out which process occupied the CPU and memory.

    Best Regards,

    Zack Lu

Virtual machine on VMWare, CPU usage is always low when this happens it's just virtual memory having a problem causing resource exhaustion issues and crashes. The only third party application is ESET for AV and we've experienced the same (actually worse when using Windows Defender).

The process is always identified as one or more of the websites running on the server. The event log identifies which process Id is using /causing the issue and we can track it down to sites. it's not generally the same site, just one or more on the server that currently hosts about 50 sites.

Primarily what I'm looking for is if anybody has a better way of getting in touch with Microsoft? We've had a ticket open with them and can't get responses. Calling into support to get it reassigned hasn't worked either. To clarify, we have a paid ticket with them and they won't respond....

    Hello

I understand that your main issue is virtual memory high. I suggest you use Rammap or Performance Monitor to analyze the usage of virtual memory. You can find out which process occupied most memory. And about the case, I'm sorry that I don't know the way to contact with Online support engineer.

    Best Regard
