Windows Update Errors - 0x800f081f - Multiple Devices

Hello

We are seeing multiple devices (50+) fail to install the latest Windows 11 update due to error 0x800f081f.

Doing my own research this error is “CBS_MISSING_E_SOURCE” - the cbs.log shows that when staging the package it is “missing manifest from “c:\windows\softwaredistribution\download” folder which is where the MSU file extracts the contents of the update.

The devices are allowed to connect to Windows to download any additional components/features/packages.

Running the various dism image health check/repair commands is returning no issues and showing the OS component store is healthy.

The only way we’ve been able to fix this is by running in-place upgrades - surely this isn’t the only way to fix this issue? This takes multiple hours!

There must be a reason why this is happening and surely there’s a quicker way to resolve this issue.

Any advice would be much appreciated - many thanks

Thanks for your reply - apologies should have mentioned that I’ve tried resetting windows update components multiple times - I’ve tried almost every suggestion online to no avail.
