I am trying to configure my two Windows PCs to be able to share files over my home network. One works fine, and I can access files from the other PC. When trying to do it the other way around, though, I can't seem to get file sharing working from my 2nd PC. I had been able to access the files on my 1st PC by using my windows login info when connecting to the device. When trying to access files on my second pc using the same login, it says password incorrect. Both PCs are linked to the same Microsoft account, and I don't have a local user setup. Enabling public access without a password does not work either. Sometimes, the password prompt doesn't even show and I see this:

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, not sure what it means but when trying to connect to the problem pc from my iphone it says "error: rpc struct is bad"

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

To share files between two Windows PCs and fix the problem, you can follow these steps:

    1. Make sure that both PCs are connected to the same network and that the network type is "Private Network".
    2. In Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change advanced sharing settings, make sure file and printer sharing is enabled.
    3. Right-click on the folder you want to share, select "Properties" > "Sharing" tab, click "Share", select the user and set permissions.
    4. In the folder's Properties > Security tabs, make sure that your user account has access.
    5. In Control Panel > Network & Sharing Center, turn off password-protected sharing.
    6. Make sure Windows Firewall allows file and printer sharing.
    7. Try< the address of the second PC's Ip > to access the shared folder directly by typing .
    8. If you get the message "Current Account Locked", restart the second PC or check the user account status.
    9. Make sure both PCs are updated to the latest version.
    10. After changing the settings, restart both computers to make sure it takes effect.

If the problem persists, provide more information for further diagnosis.

I hope the information above is helpful.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

    Regards,

    Jill Zhou
