CertSrv service 500.19 internal server error.

We have an issue where our certificate server is showing a status 500.19 Internal Server Error. Error code 0x80070003 Cannot read configuration file Config File \?\c:\Windows\system32\CertSrv\en-US\web.config - I see there is no web.config file listed int the folder. I went back to our backups and don't see that the file ever existed However, the server was operational a couple weeks ago. I don't see anything in the event logs, and pkiview shows errors at AIA Location #2, DeltaCRL Location #2 and CDP Location #2. Any Ideas what I should look for? It kinda looks like a permissions issue.

    Hello Glen Karam,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

Where did you see "a status 500.19 Internal Server Error"?

Please provide the screenshot with PKIview.msc console.

I cannot see en-US under c:\Windows\system32\CertSrv in my lab.

If you have any question or concern, please feel free to let us know.

    Best Regards,

    Daisy Zhou

Thanks for the reply, I get the 500.19 error when attempting to access the http://servername/certsrv page in a browser on the server. If I attempt to get to the same page on a desktop, I get a 500 Internal server error. The server is the only place where I actually see the 500.19 error.

I tried republishing the CRL but still not working.

I can't access the http://server.domain.com/certsrv page. That is where I receive the 500 error message. It seems to be an issue with IIS.

    Hello

    Greetings!

For the abnormal status in PKIview.msc, you can try to publish CRL and Delta CRL as below, then refresh PKIview.msc or reopen PKIview.msc to check if it helps.

Select New CRL and click OK.

Select Delta CRL and click OK.

Please check if you can access http://server.domain.com/certsrv page.

    Best Regards,
    Daisy Zhou
