Windows 11 24H2 26100.2314

Here is something that caught my eye a few moments ago...Has anyone else seen this?

Hyper V enabled, went to Control Panel>Network and Sharing Center>Change Adapter Settings and was looking at them, and the vEthernet (Default Switch) shows some very strange characters on the last line.

Just booted up my other system that also has hyper v enabled, and it's showing a regular connection. On this computer I have scanned it with defender and also downloaded and run a full scan with Windows malicious software removal..both negative. Pic from my other computer

Ok now this is getting super weird. This is the same machine as my original post. Went to programs/features and unchecked HyperV. Rebooted and have been messing around all day. Just for grins I decided to re Enable Hyper V. Now there are even more strange characters on that "adapter" Pic below

    Hi there,

I had run all the Dism commands as well as sfc before I posted here. After doing some more research, it seems as this is a common problem with others as well.

Problem solved I did a clean install and left Hyper V disabled.

One thing to note on the third pic which showed the switch as it should be, after a windows update, that switch also came back with the funny characters. So I just disabled Hyper V on that machine as well.

So this appears to be a bug on Microsoft end.

    Hi,

Please run the System File Checker (SFC) and Deployment Imaging Service and Management Tool (DISM) to see if it can fix the issue on your Windows system.

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /CheckHealth

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /ScanHealth

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

    sfc /scannow

Also see if you can modify the network description manually in registry editor. On my Windows 11 it's the FriendlyName value under the path HKLM\System\ControlSet001\Enum\Root\VMS_MP\000. Don't forget to back up the registry before modifying it.

This problem is still not fixed. Please Microsoft. Fix this weird problem. Removing Hyper-V is not a solution. This error occurs in every version of W11 24H2.

You only can give the self made v-switch a friendly name. Not the default switch

Hi, same problem with my Win11 patched today. Nothins seems to work, and I don't want to reinstall Win11. I also repaired with dism and ISO 24H2, but no success.
