Microsoft PWG Raster Class Driver

I connected an Epson printer via IP to a Windows Server 2019 server.

The test page reports that the driver name is "Microsoft PWG Raster Class Driver".

Where can I find a description of what a "Microsoft PWG Raster Class Driver" is and the way it is installed and used?

Google reports very few pages and no exhaustive explanation of what it is and how to use it.

The same printer is connected to a Windows 10 box (the installation was made using the Epson CD) and the driver is "EPSON WF-2840 Series".

Regards

    Hello **** Marius - Roma

The driver on Server 2019 reported as "Microsoft PWG Raster Class Driver" is likely due to the server using a generic or universal print driver for compatibility of print management. This generic driver simplifies printer sharing on the server but may not provide access to all the advanced features of Epson printer.

In contrast, when you connect the same Epson printer to a Windows 10 computer using the installation CD provided by Epson, the setup process installs the manufacturer-specific "EPSON WF-2840 Series" driver, offering a more customized printing experience.

You could download the specific Epson driver from the Epson website and install on the server.

    Best regards,
