Windows 11 doesn't show login username/password boxes after waking from sleep

After being inactive, the computer "wakes up" and shows the typical picture background, as well as the weather. The problem is there is no login username/password box. Nothing can be clicked. The only options we've found to log in is to remote into it via RDP, end the session without logging out, and then move back to the machine itself (then the proper login boxes display), OR force a shut down by pushing and holding the power button (ouch).

We've tried the usual: ctrl-alt-del; up arrow a couple times; click and dragging mouse upwards, etc. thinking it could be an issue where it thinks it's a touch screen situation.

Why is this happening? It's on a Domain, it's the only Windows 11 machine and it's the only one exhibiting this issue.

    Hi Mike Edwards3,

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community Forums.

Go to System Settings and check the settings for the lock screen and screen saver to make sure they are not configured to override the login screen.

Check for system updates and configurations:

Check the system update history to confirm if there are any recent updates that may be related to the problem. If there are, try uninstalling the most recent updates.

Check the system configuration to ensure that no login-related settings have been incorrectly modified.

    Update or roll back drivers:

Try updating the graphics card drivers and other related hardware drivers to the latest versions.

If the problem persists after updating, consider rolling back to the previous driver version.

Check and uninstall security software or malware:

Check installed security software and recently installed software for software that may conflict with the login screen.

Uninstall recently installed suspicious software and run a system cleanup tool (such as antivirus software) to scan and remove potential malware.

    Contact the domain administrator:

Since the computer is located on a domain, it is recommended to contact the domain administrator to check if there is a relevant domain policy or group policy setting affecting the display of the login screen.

    Reset or restore the system:

If none of the above methods solve the problem, consider using a System Restore Point to restore the system to its previous state.

If System Restore Point does not solve the problem either, you may need to consider resetting or reinstalling the operating system.

    Best regards

    Neuvi Jiang
