I have had issues in the past with this but now no fixes are working. I have been utilizing a SCM SCR3310V2 CAC card reader on my personal computer to access websites like myPay, MOL and DTS and it has always read my cac. Last week I installed IOBit Malware Fighter Pro to scan my computer of any malicious files. Now no matter what steps I take to try to read my cac it wont read it. It won't load certificates or nothing. I have currently tried to clear my SSL cache, give full permissions to calais, smart card and reader in registry editor, and have insured root DOD certificates have been installed, but it is still not working. I am utilizing windows 10 enterprise and am not using ActivClient. To clarify when I insert my cac my reader will show solid green and then turn off.

    Hello Dylan Lewis5,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

Based on the description "Last week I installed IOBit Malware Fighter Pro to scan my computer of any malicious files", does it cause the problem? You can try to uninstall IOBit Malware Fighter Pro and check if it helps.

If it does not work, please try suggestion:

    1. Reinstall the CAC Card Reader Drivers:

Uninstall the card reader drivers, disconnect the card reader, restart your computer, and then reinstall the drivers.

    1. Check Smart Card Service:

Ensure that the Smart Card service is running.

Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.

In the Services window, locate the "Smart Card" service.

Make sure it is running and set to Automatic. If it is not, right-click on it and select Start.

    1. Windows Updates:

Ensure your Windows is fully updated.

    1. Check Device Manager for Errors:

Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager.

Expand the "Smart card readers" section.

Right-click on your CAC reader and select Uninstall device.

After uninstalling, restart your computer and let Windows reinstall the drivers.

    5 Try Different Ports:

Plug the reader into a different USB port, preferably a direct port on the motherboard (not a hub).

    1. Test on Another Computer:

Try using the CAC reader on another computer to verify if the issue is with the reader or your primary computer.

7.Check SCM SCR3310V2 CAC card reader and/or SCM SCR3310V2 CAC card is OK or not.

I hope the information above is helpful.

If you have any question or concern, please feel free to let us know.

    Best Regards,

    Daisy Zhou
