AMD graphical driver corruption (?) after connecting Google Pixel Pro Buds 2

I received a new qwerty HP Elitebook 865 G11 work laptop with Windows 11. With an AMD Ryzen CPU and AMD Radeon graphics. The laptop started to have issues two weeks ago: the screen would randomly turn very dark (not completely black).

  • Very temporary solution: close the laptop lid and reopen it, this will work for a few seconds before the screen will turn very dark again.
  • Temporary solution: remove the AMD graphical driver and use the basic Windows one. But since it's a work laptop the AMD driver is force installed again after a few minutes.

Up to this point I also tried reinstalling different version of the AMD graphical driver, but with no success.

So I brought the laptop to the service desk where they did some testing and a full reset. And I got it back today. After spending some time getting it up and running again without any issues, I decided to pair my Google Pixel Pro Buds 2 and almost instantly the screen turned black again. So it seems that pairing the device with Windows 11 is corrupting my graphical driver?

I've spend several hours at the service desk today trying to figure out what is happening exactly. But even after trying the AMD clean utility, reinstalling the AMD driver, removing the buds as bluetooth device, reinstalling the bluetooth driver,... the issue persisted. So we finally decided to do another full reset and windows install.

This brings us to the current point where I have a new windows install, and so far no graphical issues. However, I can't connect my buds.

So I wonder what might be causing this persisting corruption of the graphical driver when the buds get paired? Is this a known issue? Is there something that can be done to fix this so I can connect my buds?

Update: It's not only the buds that causes issues. After pairing a bluetooth mouse the same problem started again. So it seems that it solely related to bluetooth pairing causing a corrupted graphical driver? The mouse worked fine without issues with the usb stick. The laptop will be send back to HP, but the question remains if this is a known issue with bluetooth and graphical drivers?

    Hello

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

From what you've described, it seems like there might be a conflict between the Bluetooth drivers and the AMD graphical drivers on your HP Elitebook 865 G11.

Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot this issue further:

Update BIOS and Chipset Drivers: Ensure that your BIOS and chipset drivers are up to date. Sometimes, these updates can resolve hardware compatibility issues.

Check for Bluetooth Driver Updates: Make sure your Bluetooth drivers are the latest version. You can find these on the HP support website or through Windows Update.

Use a Different Bluetooth Adapter: If possible, try using an external Bluetooth adapter to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with the built-in Bluetooth hardware.

Check Power Management Settings: Sometimes, power management settings can cause conflicts. Go to Device Manager, find your Bluetooth adapter, right-click and select Properties. Under the Power Management tab, uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

Since your laptop will be sent back to HP, they might be able to provide a more permanent solution. However, these steps could help you manage the issue in the meantime.

    Best Regards,

    Wesley Li
