My Epson-400 Scan Smart software stoppend working after a Windows 11 update in November 2024. It was suggested that MS released update KB5048667 to correct. There have been reports that this updated does not install and if it is installed, it does not correct the problem? How are your customers able to continue using their scanners and other devices connected with USB?

    Hello,

Based on your description, your Epson-400 Scan Smart software is experiencing the scan button not responding issue after Windows 11 update, here are some solutions and suggestions:

KB5048667 the update has fixed some scanner USB connection issues. Open Windows Settings, select Update & Security, tap Check for updates, and make sure the KB5048667 update is installed.

If the scanner still isn't working after installing the KB5048667 update, you can try the following methods to fix the problem:

    1. Make sure the scanner is powered on and the USB cable is properly connected to your computer's rear USB port. Check Device Manager for any scanner devices that are displayed abnormally, such as with exclamation marks or question marks. If the device is not properly recognized, it is recommended to reinstall the scanner driver.
    2. Open the Device Manager, expand the "Imaging Devices" section, locate the Epson Scanner Device, right-click and select "Uninstall Device". Restart your computer and let the scanner driver automatically reinstall.
    3. Press the Win + R keys, type wiaacmgr, and use the built-in WinScan tool in Windows to test if the scanner is working properly. If the scan is normal, there is no problem with the hardware and connection, and the Scan Smart software may be installed incorrectly.
    4. Use the System File Checker (SFC) and the Deployment Image Service and Management Tool (DISM) to fix possible system file corruption.
    5. Uninstall the current Epson Scan Smart software, then download the latest version from the official website to reinstall it, and make sure to choose the version that is compatible with your operating system.

    I hope this information helps.

    Best regards,

    Jingjing Wu
