Why does my laptop bootup requiring Bitlocker number be entered?

Good Morning,

I use an LG Gram 12th Gen I5 laptop that is 20 months old. Starting a few months ago, the computer required the Bitlocker number to bootup. It happened again this morning but before I could enter the Bitlokcer numbers, it booted up on its own. And have been having trouble sending/receiving email in Outlook 2021 because the internet gets blocked. My provider, Green Geeks, works tirelessly every time it happens but there is nothing left to do so now wonder if this problem is connected to my laptop requiring Bitlocker to boot up? So two questions: first, why is the computer occasionally requiring Bitlocker to bootup when I first turn it on in the morning; and second, could the internet being blocked connected to this?

Thank you,

MaryAnn

    Hello hrhmar,

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with BitLocker.

Regarding your first question, it's possible that the BitLocker recovery key is being triggered due to a hardware or software issue on your device.

As for your second question, it's unlikely that the internet connectivity issue is directly related to the Bitlocker recovery key. However, it's possible that there is an underlying issue with your device that is causing both problems. I recommend contacting LG support to diagnose and resolve the issues with your device.

    Best regards,

    Lei

    Hello Lei,

Thank you - emailed LG with a copy of your reply and have not heard back. Called Costco because I have an extended warranty thru them. Their tech deactivated Bitlocker. I will let you know what LG says once they reply.

    Many thanks,

    MaryAnn
