Movies and TV isn't finding all my videos

I use Movies and TV to watch videos. I have added all my folders containing videos to the app, but it finds videos in only some of the folders- others say there are no videos in the folder. Everything is in an mp4 format. I am running Windows 11 Pro with all updates installed with 32 GB RAM and an Intel i9 processor. How can I get the app to find all my videos in all folders, or how can I bget it to rescan my drives to find all my videos. I have tried deleting the "empty" folders and re-adding them, but it still doesn't help.

Hello! I'm Mote, and will assist you today.

I am sorry to hear that you are facing this issue.

In the interim could you try resetting the Movies and TV App and retry to see if it detects all your videos again?

    • Right click on start menu
    • At the very top click on Installed Apps
    • Search for Movies & Tv in the installed apps
    • Once found click on the 3dots on the right hand side of it and select Advanced options
    • Scroll down to and try either Repair or Reset

Once done please check and see if it has made a difference to it being able to detect the movies you have.

Please provide further info or screenshots if the above doesn't work so we can determine the best route for getting this fixed.

    Cheers,

    Mote (UTC +12)

That didn't help. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling. My videos are located on four Synology NAS devices. Movies & TV finds the video folders on three of them. All the folders which it says contain no videos are located on the same NAS. File explorer finds them just fine, and my Videos library finds them just fine. I am able to play them all just fine by opening them with a double click- Movies & TV works perfectly this way. It will also cycle through them in either direction by clicking on the arrows on either side of the screen. The only problem is the app won't add the videos to the app by just opening the app and searching for the video from the opening screen for the videos on that NAS.
