Is it safe to install the Fortinet Forticlient software on:

  1. Windows Domain Controllers,
  2. Servers in the DMZ (web servers)?

In the past myself and fellow IT engineers had to restore certain servers (2008r2, 2012r2, 2016 and 2022) and do rollbacks/uninstallation of antivirus/firewall-vpn, symantec type client software. Certain client software normally causes BSOD and other Server services disruption issues. Should I install FortiClient on the servers listed above or not? I am playing it very safe here so as to avoid any downtime, thank you. Looking forward to your response.

    Hello

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

Based on the information provided, Fortinet Forticlient software is compatible with Windows Server operating systems, including Windows Domain Controllers and servers in the DMZ. However, as with any software installation, it is recommended to perform a thorough compatibility check and testing before installing it on production servers. It is also important to ensure that the software is configured correctly and does not interfere with other applications or services running on the server. If you have concerns about potential downtime, it may be best to test the installation on a non-production server first.

    Best Regards,

    Zack Lu
