Microsoft Purview currently supports data quality (DQ) assessments for a variety of data sources as shown in the figure below:
However, data quality scanning for on-premises SQL Server instances is not currently supported. While Microsoft Purview can connect to on-premises SQL Server instances to extract metadata, this capability does not extend to data quality assessments.
It's worth noting that Microsoft has plans to support data quality scanning for on-premises Oracle databases in 2025. However, there is no publicly available information indicating similar support for on-premises SQL Server databases in the current roadmap.
