On prem Windows 11 - Skype for Business 2019 crashes on when opening old messages.

This is an intermittent issue not specific to any user nor machine. We get the following errors.

Skype config file - MAPI information " Skype for Business is in the process of connecting to the Exchange Server. The process may take a few minutes. Some features will not be available until the connection is complete;MAPI unavailable; retrying connection."

We noticed that users who don't have this problem have MAPI Information - MAPI Status OK

Event viewer - Windows cannot load the extensible counter DLL "c:\windows\System32\sysmain.dll" (Win32 error code. The specified module could not be found).

This doesn't happen on our Windows 10 machines.

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A.

Based on the description, I understand your question is related to win 11.

Update Skype for Business 2019 to the latest version. Microsoft may have released patches that address compatibility issues with Windows 11.

Try running Skype for Business in compatibility mode for Windows 10. Right-click on the Skype for Business shortcut, go to Properties > Compatibility, and select "Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 10."

Check Group Policy and security settings are not blocking MAPI connections or causing conflicts. Network and firewall settings are not blocking the necessary ports for MAPI and Skype for Business.

    Have a nice day.

    Best Regards,

    Molly
