Just started my free trial, however when I am testing a AI chat model in the playground I am told that my rate limit has been exceeded (Tokens TMP presumably). This happens with all of the models I choose. The trial seems pretty useless as is. Thoughts on what I may be doing wrong. Obv they don't provide any support. Thanks

    Hi Enquirer,

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum. Thanks for posting your query here.

I totally get your frustration! You just started your Azure OpenAI free trial, and instead of smoothly testing AI models, you’re stuck with an annoying rate limit exceeded error. That’s frustrating, especially when you feel like you haven’t even used it much!

Azure’s free trial limits can be tricky, but I'll get this sorted for you. Let’s fix this step by step.

    Here’s How to Fix It:

Check Your Token Usage & Quota:

Go to Azure Portal → OpenAI Resource → Usage + Quotas and see if you’ve exceeded your trial’s token limit.

If you see that your quota is 0 or very low, the trial might have given you a small allocation.

    Try Lowering Token Usage:

In the Playground, reduce the "Max Tokens" value (set it to 256 or lower).

Use smaller models (gpt-35-turbo instead of gpt-4).

Avoid sending too many back-to-back requests.

    Wait for Daily Quota Reset:

Free trials often have daily limits, so check if it resets in 24 hours.

Upgrade to a Pay-As-You-Go Plan (Recommended):

The free trial has very limited tokens, and upgrading to PAYG will give you higher limits.

You can still use Azure credits after upgrading.

Hope this helps. Do let us know if you any further queries.

    Thank You.
