Hey there,

I have a question regarding the AI Foundry, in particular the hosting of OpenAI Models with Deployment Type: 'DataZoneStandard'

When I choose Sweden Central as my region for example for the hosting of o3-mini, can i be 100% certain, that the inference as well as any other data processing in connection with the o3-mini model will be done in Sweden Central ? Or is that not the case ?

Thank you very much for your help,

Best Regards!

Hi Marvin Mitterlehner,
Greetings & Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum! Thank you for sharing your query.

When you deploy the o3-mini model in Sweden Central with the 'DataZoneStandard' deployment type, your data will be processed within the European Union (EU) data zone. This means that while storage at rest remains in Sweden Central, the actual processing may occur in any EU-based data center for better performance and availability. So, you cannot be 100% certain that all inference and data processing will stay strictly within Sweden Central, but it will not leave the EU.

If you need all data processing and storage to stay strictly within Sweden Central, you would need a regional deployment type instead. However, this might limit model availability and performance. The 'DataZoneStandard' option ensures EU data compliance while balancing efficiency, but for stricter control over location, a regional deployment is the better choice.

Hope this helps. Do let us know if you have any further queries.
