Azure Database for PostgreSQL flexible server stuck in restart

The server got stuck in restart and the question what to do now besides delete and recreate. Any other way to get to this server?

Hi! I've got the same issue. Also, when trying to start, stop or restart the instance using 'az postgres flexible-server' it returns the following error:

(InternalServerError) An unexpected error occured while processing the request. Tracking ID: 'tracking-id'

Could you kindly specify when you started experiencing this issue, and how long the server has been in a restarting state?

Hi, close to 24h. I must say the storage is full but normally it should go into read only when restarting and we can not scale the storage when the server is not avail.

Hi @Francis Antonietti Can you check below parameters which can cause Azure Database for PostgreSQL flexible server stuck in restart

VMAgent/vmagent_postgres_sidecar is not healthy.

To check if the VMAgent/vmagent_postgres_sidecar is healthy or not follow below PowerShell command.

Invoke-OrcasBreadthExecuteScriptWithRunCommand -OrcasInstanceId "orcas_instance_id" -AzureVmRunCommandScriptName "dockerps"

For HA enabled servers, it can be because of NSG/routing tables changes.

Storage is full.

In the meantime, could you please check if you target server has enough memory/storage as this issue commonly occurs when compute power is less.
