My computer is generating a large number of event log entries related to Universal Print. The errors we are seeing are:

  • ErrorCode: 0xcaa9004d – "User Interaction Required while trying to get a token silently. Error: Account type is unknown."
  • ErrorCode: 0x8086000c – "Failed to get auth header."

I would like to understand why these errors are occurring and how to resolve them. Any insights or recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks!

    Hello,

The Universal Print errors you're encountering—ErrorCode: 0xcaa9004d ("User Interaction Required while trying to get a token silently. Error: Account type is unknown.") and ErrorCode: 0x8086000c ("Failed to get auth header.")—are typically related to authentication issues. These errors occur when the Universal Print service is unable to obtain an authentication token silently, often due to misconfigured credentials, permissions, or Azure AD settings.

Verify Azure AD configuration, app registration, and service principal.

Check Universal Print connector and printer registration.

Ensure authentication credentials are correct and reauthenticate users.

Update Universal Print components and printer drivers.

Check Event Viewer logs for additional details.

    Re-register Universal Print if necessary.

    Have a nice day.

    Best Regards,

    Hania Lian
