Document is not able to read correctly using Document AI intelligence

Hey Guys,

Document is not able to read correctly using the Document AI intelligence.

I observed during the reading of the document that it is reading vertically instead of horizontally line by line.

If Document AI is reading the text vertically instead of horizontally, it could be due to the document's layout or how the text is structured. The Document Intelligence layout model analyzes documents by recognizing geometric and logical text structures, which may lead to unintended reading orientations.

To improve accuracy, please consider the following steps:

Ensure the document is formatted for horizontal reading. If text is arranged vertically, the model may interpret it accordingly.

High-resolution images improve text recognition. Ensure document images are clear and meet the Read API's input requirements.

For complex layouts or mixed text orientations, preprocess the document by rotating or adjusting its layout before sending it to the Document Intelligence service.

Well there is a problem with read built model 2024 if the data is in column based even though this is not a table the model merge few of text into single line instead of next line this leads to false positive.

With final conclusion we got to know that the latest version of model 2024 have this problem though model with year 2023 are working fine.

Hi @Mohsin Khan,

At this time, the issue has not been resolved in the 2024 model based on your testing. I will escalate this behavior to the product team for further investigation. In the meantime, as a workaround, you may continue using the 2023 version of the model for scenarios where precise line separation is critical.
