In SharePoint 2016, there are pages using page viewer web part which loads web page having extension of mht file. The pages are loading without download prompt in IE. The organization is decomissioning IE and going to use edge browser.

In Edge, the web part is not loading and .mht file getting downloaded. The option is to convert .mht file to .html file. It is time consuming.

if we run the powershell command mentioned in the below forum, does this work in all browser ?

    Hi @Sajith Gopalakrishnan Hema ,

I could reproduce your issue in my end. I also tested to open .mht file directly in Edge, it also cannot be loaded either. Per my knowledge, MHT format is not supported in Edge. So, It may be a browser compatibility issue from my point of view.

The PowerShell command in your provided link can’t resolve this issue. If you persist on Edge, you will have to convert .mht files to .html or .pdf. I suggest you to find a 3rd party tool to convert them in batch for convenience.

As to find all .mht files, you can directly enter .mht in the search box in a search center.

Unfortunately, Microsoft Edge does not support the MHT format.

    Instead, you should

    • Convert this file to PDF or HTML.
    • Use another supported browser!

Regarding the attached URL, I think the cmd-line is already applied on your side where the file was opened properly in the IE browser.
But currently, you are using a browse that doesn't support MHT format, so it's a browser compatibility issue, not a configuration issue!
