Hello Dru,
Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.
Transferring your Windows 11 Pro license to a new laptop is possible if you have a retail license.
Here are the steps to do it:
- Deactivate the License on the Old Laptop:
• Open Command Prompt as an administrator. Run the following command to deactivate the license: slmgr.vbs /upk
- Install Windows 11 Pro on the New Laptop:
• If your new laptop has Windows 11 Home, you need to upgrade it to Pro. You can do this by changing the product key.
• Go to Settings > System > Activation.
• Click on Change product key and enter the generic Windows 11 Pro key:
VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T
• Please note that this key is only for upgrading purposes and won't activate Windows. You'll need to enter your own valid product key to activate Windows 11 Pro after the upgrade.
- Activate the License on the New Laptop:
• After upgrading to Windows 11 Pro, open Command Prompt as an administrator.
• Run the following command to activate your license:
slmgr.vbs /ipk <your-product-key>
slmgr.vbs /ato
- Verify Activation: • Go to Settings > System > Activation to ensure that Windows is activated.
I hope the information above is helpful.
