Unable to connect to remote PC with Remote Desktop in Windows 10.

Hello everyone,

I use Remote Desktop a lot at home and on the go. Everything was working fine in January 2025, but in February I was bombarded with fraudulent requests (about 10 per second), which fortunately were detected by Norton. I protected my PC with a 26-character password and the problem went away, but I disabled Remote Desktop for a month.

Today, regardless of the password, I can no longer connect. I checked the routing settings for port 3389 on the box, the Norton traffic rules, and I even added an authorization at the top of these rules to allow Remote Desktop (port 3389) on the local network. Nothing worked. Was there a Windows update in anticipation of the arrival of Windows App? I'm not a professional, so I can't use Windows App.

Thank you for your help.

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A.

Based on the description, I understand your question is related to connect to remote PC with Remote Desktop in Windows 10.

Go to Settings > System > Remote Desktop and make sure the toggle is set to "On". Try pinging the remote PC to check connectivity. Check firewall and Norton settings are not blocking Remote Desktop connections. You might need to create an exception for port 3389 in both your firewall and Norton.

Open the Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) and navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Connections. Ensure the policy "Allow users to connect remotely by using Remote Desktop Services" is enabled
