Dear,

I am trying to get a card reader working via Remote Desktop. To do this I have adjusted a few things via GPedit.msc such as enabling the option "Allow RDP redirection of other supported RemoteFX usb devices from this computer". Despite this, the option "Other supported RemoteFX USB devices" is missing under Local Resources (when right klicking remote desktop icon and selecting edit). To be sure, I have tested this on 3 other laptops and on those the option "Other supported RemoteFX USB devices" is active as soon as it is enabled via GPedit. But no matter what I do on this laptop, the option "Other supported RemoteFX USB devices" is missing under Local Resources. Any help is appreciated.

P.S. After every edit with GPedit i use gpupdate /force, and a reboot after.

Kindest regards,

F. Fahsi

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A.

Based on the description, I understand your question is related to "Other supported RemoteFX USB devices" option is missing.

Open Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc). Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Connection Client > RemoteFX USB Device Redirection. Ensure that Allow RDP redirection of other supported RemoteFX USB devices from this computer is set to Enabled.

Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Terminal Services\Client\USB. Ensure that the RedirectSupported DWORD value is set to 1.

Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Device and Resource Redirection. Ensure that Do not allow supported Plug and Play device redirection is set to Disabled.

If the issue persists, consider reinstalling the Remote Desktop client on the problematic laptop to ensure there are no corrupted files causing the issue.

    Have a nice day.

    Best Regards,

    Molly
