How to fix "We’re unable to validate your phone number" error when signing up for Azure for Students?

I am trying to sign up for an Azure for Students account, but I keep encountering an error during the phone verification step. The error message states:

"We’re unable to validate your phone number. Phone validation is required to confirm your identity and complete signup. Reenter your SMS verification code, or try again with a different phone number."

I have tried:

  • Entering the SMS code again
  • Using a different phone number
  • Refreshing the page and clearing my cache

Despite these attempts, I am still unable to proceed with my signup. Is there a workaround for this issue, or is there an alternative way to verify my account?

    To address the issue, we contacted our support team and raised a ticket with the Azure Subscription/Account Review team.

    A support engineer from the Account Review team will remove the block on your account phone number, allowing you to sign up for a new Azure tenant without any problems.
