How long can you deallocate an Azure VM?

How long can I keep a VM deallocated in Azure?

Are there any time limits?

For example, can I keep a VM deallocated for 5 years?

I understand that the VM image stored in the storage will be billed for the normal storage rate. Can a VM be deallocated indefinitely?

    As far as I know there is no time limit for a deallocated VM in Azure.
    Just keep in mind: Even if there are no costs for Azure compute if the VM is deallocated there are costs for the storage used by a VM (disks). The storage costs are independent of the status of the VM (started/deallocated).
