We currently have an internal Intranet site hosted on SharePoint on-premise which allows authenticated access to another organization. So this organisation leverages their own directory to authenticate to our site.
We are now looking to migrate to SharePoint Online and wanted to ask how something similar can be achieved with this platform. We already have a B2B Direct and B2B Collaboration with this organisation and are using shared channels and inviting external guests in Teams.
So what options are available to us in order for this organisation to have authenticated access to our new SharePoint site? Can we leverage B2B Direct for example?

We recommend that you enable multi-factor authentication (MFA). MFA requires an additional form of authentication in addition to your password, adding an extra layer of security to your account and helping protect your data from unauthorized access if your password is compromised. Because B2B direct connect currently works with Microsoft Teams shared channels, it does not work with SharePoint Online. So we recommend that you use B2B Collaboration. For more information, please see:
